Camera Control: ISO

Hi, welcome back to my blog! This post is about camera control, specifically ISO. ISO controls the amount of light that your camera lets in. If you are in a darker environment then you might want to use a higher ISO setting, on the other hand if you're in a brighter area then you could use a low ISO setting. For example, if you were to be outside on a sunny day then you would use a low ISO like 100 or 200. Changing your ISO can help if you need an exposure boost. To take my photos I used the app Lightroom on my phone, since I didn't have a sd card to use.

          iso: 6400

This photo was taken outside of the cafe on one of the blank walls using natural light and also the flash from a phone. Since it was taken on my phone I think that there isn't as much “noise” as there usually is, but I still think it adds a nice effect. It kinda looks like a polaroid picture.

In this picture, all the other lights are off except the lights on the tree. I used ISO 400 to really emphasize the lights, but made sure that the quality was still good.

I think that in certain scenes noise can add a lot to your photo, otherwise it just makes the picture look bad. In my opinion, noise looks better in portraits rather than landscapes or food photography. I feel quite confident using ISO and changing it when needed. When we first started using the actual cameras it was kinda intimidating but now I feel a lot better about them. Thank you for reading my blog, see ya later alligator!
